The White Birch Golf Course was established in 1963. Once a dairy farm, John and Ben Godshall turned the 120 acres into a 27 Hole golf course.
The 18 Hole Championship Course is a little bit on the short yardage side, but it gives all golfers a rough time with the rolling hills and strong north winds at certain times of the year. With tree-lined fairways and large greens, the golfer also has a great scenic view as the course is located by the Tuscarora and Locust Lake State Parks.
The 9 Hole Executive Course established in 1972 is a course with tight tree-lined fairways. This course is great for 9 Hole league play, walking or for people just learning the game. Either course can be reserved for tournaments. Contact the office and set up your date.
A picnic grove is also available for after-play to eat and give out prizes. “Not a Golfer” – come visit the restaurant located in the clubhouse with great views of the course and seating for 100 people. We have daily Lunch Specials during the week and Breakfast Specials on the weekends. Great prices and great service are our Specialty.
What are the rules of golf
Is golf a sport? In which individuals or teams compete by driving a small ball into a hole by hitting a club, aiming to cover a distance in as few strokes as possible. Golf rules
There are few official documents governing the golf rules. The main ones are approved by the R&A Rules Limited (St. Andrews, Scotland) and the United States Golf Association (Far Hills, New Jersey). There are some basic and essential rules that you can read about below:
- Players start from a starting position, called the tee, and hit the ball toward the hole;
- There are many golf clubs available to meet certain requirements. Some of these are: irons, woods, drivers, wedges, choppers and clubs, each specifically designed for different kinds of strokes and situations;
- A player may select no more than 14 clubs for his bag at the beginning of any round;
- A gambler is allowed to add clubs to his uniform as long as there are no more than 14. Changes are only allowed after the end of each round;
- Players do not carry their bags with them during the competition. There are assistants, called caddies, who do this for them;
- Gambler must keep an eye on their ball, as hitting the wrong balloon could result in a two stroke penalty;
- For the first shot. You are allowed to lift it slightly with a small pin, also called a tee;
- The next strokes must be taken “as the ball moves”, which is often considered the golden rule of golf;
- It is not permitted to alter the medium in any way. Break branches, remove debris to increase one’s chances of getting out of a difficult situation;
- In such situations, gamblers may go the distance of one shot and take a penalty to resume the game. If the ball can be rescued, the player is allowed to pick it up, place it at a point directly in line with the hole and behind its current position, before resuming the process;
- If the balloon cannot be rescued. A new one is used to resume;
- If it hits a water obstacle during the shot, the competitor, if possible, may continue acting without penalty. But in most cases this is not possible, and the golfer must go the distance and take a penalty shot before resuming play with a fresh ball.
These are the simple rules. Which you need to know before you begin to experience such an interesting and noble game.
